Streamwize, a company that, through its AdtonIQ Platform minimizes the impact of ad blocking for digital media companies across mobile and desktop, announced today that Scott Cunningham, Founder and Former General Manager of the IAB Tech Lab and now owner of digital advertising supply chain and publishing consultancy Cunningham.Tech, has joined the company as an advisor.
“Today’s vendors need separation. Streamwize research into detection technology across screens is vital to a publisher’s accurate ability to have a conversation with its customers,” said Scott Cunningham, who will be advising the company as part of his services through his firm, Cunningham.Tech. A longtime digital-media executive, Cunningham’s background includes head of technology for the second largest local news publisher Digital First Media, leadership roles at USATODAY.com and Federated Media/Sovrn. Most recently, as the Founder & GM of the IAB Tech Lab, Cunningham oversaw the development of the L.E.A.N. Ads and D.E.A.L. Principles as well as the industry’s transition from Flash to HTML5. He further helped lead the creation of the Trustworthy Accountability Group (TAG) and the development of the anti-fraud, anti-malware, and transparency programs and tools.
“Streamwize is in a strong position to enable media companies to get in front of and prevent losses from the use of ad blocking technology. From what I have seen in the market, Streamwize has built a comprehensive and technically astute detection and remediation solution to effectively deal with the blocked web. I am excited to join forces at the very front end of the market, helping my publishing colleagues try and figure out this complicated issue”, Cunningham continued.
As an advisor, Cunningham will provide counsel on a range of issues relating to ad blocking, user experience, sustainable advertising and other digital publishing business opportunities
“Combating the financial impacts of the blocked web has never been more critical to online media publishers than it is today, and Scott possesses exceptional expertise in working with industry players to fix those challenges,” said Gary Portney, CEO of Streamwize. “Scott’s addition to the Streamwize team comes at an exciting time as the company is introducing its pioneering new platform, adtonIQ”.
